ECCA Nepal, Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC) has jointly organized a week program to mark World environmental day 2008 and aware the general public on environmental issues. The good cause is always admirable, so the Bottlers Nepal too cannot stop joining the programs through its contribution towards environmental conservation. The program has started with the distribution of clean-up materials like shovels, trash bins, sweep brushes etc in first June to the Schools, local community, clubs and groups for clean up initiations.

ECCA celebrated World Water day 22nd March, 2008 in collaboration with 14 different organizations. The program started at 8:00 AM in the morning with heritage walk along Bagmati River from Teku Dovan to Thapathali. Then the mass turned into a rally towards Basantapur to join Exhibition. ECCA managed photo exhibition and stall to demonstrate the condition of Bagmati River. The program was participated and observed by thousands of visitors in the Basantapur area. |

KAPRIMO in partnership with Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office (KMC) and Lalitpur Metropolitan City Office (LSMC) organized an International Symposium on Community-led Management of River Environment at Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur, Nepal on 26 and 27 August 2007. The symposium was taken as the second step for the river restoration process; sharing and learning from experiences and successful river restoration methods from Europe and Asia. The program was inaugurated by Chief and Executive Officer of KMC, Mr. Dinesh Thapaliya, together with Mr. Prachet Shrestha, Chairman of ECCA-Nepal; Mr. Rainer Mutschler, KAPRIMO Project coordinator from Adelphi Research-Germany; Mr. Krishna Prasad Devkota, Chief and Executive Officer -LSMC and Mr. Ranjan Shrestha, Project Director of European Commission.

Solid waste is one of the major problems of Kathmandu Valley. Solid waste is scattered in nook and corner of the city and piles of solid waste are seen even along the busy roads. The major reason for this is frequent strikes in the country and lack of knowledge on proper management of waste material. To mitigate the lack of knowledge and awareness, KAPRIMO-ECCA and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office jointly organized a two day Waste management training program in participation with a local club, United Youth Club. The main objective of this training is to create pollution free, clean, green Kathmandu city. The training was conducted on 28 and 29 July 2007. About 47 women participated in the training program. |

To mark the world Environment day, 5th June 2007, ECCA together with Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City organized Nature club fete at Patan darbar square at Mangalbazar. Different activities like inter-nature club Environmental model competition/exhibition; Environmental drama performances by nature club students; Bagmati photo exhibition; poster exhibition etc were done at the event. Poster competition was organized on 2nd of June 2007 at LSMC main building at Pulchok. |

World water day, Coping with water scarcity |

22nd March, 2007 was marked as World water day with slogan "coping with water scarcity" through out the world. It was also marked in Nepal with different events. Similarly, ECCA and Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City-community development section jointly organized, " Walk for Bagmti" program in the eve of it with an objective to aware all the concerned persons and develop vision on Bagmati river. |

With the objective of alerting general public on present condition, history and instant conservation need of Bagmati River system, ECCA (KAPRIMO) has launched the Bagmati photo exhibition campaign. The photo exhibition organized at Ombahal, ward 9-Lalitpur on September 2006 was the first program of this campaign. The exhibition was appreciated by local people of Ombahal and suggested ECCA to conduct regularly in all twenty two wards of Lalitpur District and thirty five wards of Kathmandu District. |

On 5th August 2006, a heritage walk program was organized by ECCA. Besides the organizing team, 48 people from different organizations and individuals participated in the program. The walk was leaded by Mr. Anil Chitrakar, a famous conservationist of these days in Nepal. The main objective of walk is to reveal the historical foundation of heritages along Bagmati River and to disseminate the message of importance of cultural heritage for conservation of Bagmati River and vice versa. |
