 ECCA Nepal, Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC) has jointly organized a week program to mark World environmental day 2008 and aware the general public on environmental issues. The good cause is always admirable, so the Bottlers Nepal too cannot stop joining the programs through its contribution towards environmental conservation. The program has started with the distribution of clean-up materials like shovels, trash bins, sweep brushes etc in first June to the Schools, local community, clubs and groups for clean up initiations.
The program has focus on child participation. Children have been and are the most reliable means of social change. Kick off the habits that adversely impact the environment is the message that week long program has been foreseen to disseminate in mass of peoples through children. To meet this objective following series of programs has been conducted from 1 st of June to 5th of June: 1st June: Clean up materials distribution2nd June: Green board competition in schools of Lalitpur3rd June: Clean Green Win Competition among school based nature clubs of Lalitpur 4th June: Clean up, awareness and suirro promotion programs (suirro is metal hook that is used for plastic collection)5th June: A World Environment day was especially marked with closing ceremony of week long environmental programs at Mangal Bazar darbar square premises. The program started with the formal Inauguration by Acting Chief cum Executive officer of LSMC followed by the presentation of waste water treatment initiation and technology adopted by Bottlers Nepal for conservation of Environment. The presentation and the initiation taken by Bottlers Nepal is hoped to send the message to the corporate/industrial sectors the need of environmentally responsible attitude/behavior for sustainable development. The presentation was followed by Exhibition: Exhibition consist of Present condition of Bagmati River; Environmental model exhibition by Nature clubs; Green board exhibition that are evaluated during the competition on second June; Environmental documentary shows. These all activities carried the message to conserve environment starting from ones behavior change; starting from me, you and us. The day was formally closed with the awards, prizes to winners and giving away the gratitude to the volunteers and supporters. |
